Mindful Walking
Using mindfulness while walking outside gives our autonomic (automatic) nervous system great sensory information. This information to our brain is the 'all clear' signal. In addition, the rhythm created by stimulating both sides of our bodies, called bi-lateral stimulation helps with feelings of safety. So go for a walk and feel your feet on the ground, feel your legs swish, notice your arms moving back and forth, and let your eyes gaze forward and side to side. All this helps to recalibrate the mind and help you feel more calm.
