Clouds in the Sky
Clouds in the sky cognitive defusion mindfulness exercise is a way to detach from thoughts that feel stuck, on repeat, or chattering in your mind. Defusion is a silly word for separation. Like taking two fused pieces of metal and separating them. Using an imagined scene like clouds drifting in the sky, pictures of clouds, videos of clouds or going outside to look at clouds helps to create distance and time from thoughts. This in turn helps us to feel detached and slow down the mind machine. It may not stop the stress thoughts, but it can help create more distance. This distance can be quite helpful and relaxing.
